On 19 October 2017, in parallel to the CPMR General Assembly, members of the Atlantic Arc Commission unanimously approved during their plenary meeting two Political Declaration: one on Brexit and the other on Landing obligation in the Common Fisheries Policy:

Through the Declaration on Brexit, the member Regions of the Atlantic Arc Commission wish to convey a number of political messages to the negotiators, both from the United Kingdom and from the European Union. This Declaration takes into account the shared interests of the Atlantic territories with a view to ensuring that the fruitful cooperation that has been developed in the past will continue even after the United Kingdom has left the EU…

Through the Declaration on landing obligation, the Atlantic Arc Commission and representatives of the Atlantic fisheries sector call on the European Commission to implement as a matter of urgency a moratorium on the implementation of the landing obligation. Indeed, the landing obligation, included in the last Common Fisheries Policy poses too many technical constraints and has negative socio-economic impacts in the Atlantic Arc Regions. Regions and professionals hence wish to propose new legislative options in order to make the objectives of the CFP more compatible with the needs and practices of the fisheries sector in the Atlantic Regions…
