Atlantic Arc Commission: a lever for regions to get involved in Atlantic Strategy review

/, Asuntos marítimos/Atlantic Arc Commission: a lever for regions to get involved in Atlantic Strategy review

The CPMR’s Atlantic Arc Commission is actively involved in the review of the Atlantic Strategy Action Plan. The Atlantic Strategy Working Group met in December 2018 and February 2019 to contribute to the revision of the Atlantic Strategy Action Plan and further explore the possibility of an Atlantic Macro-region.

Through the Atlantic Strategy Working Group, the AAC regions have progressively structured their work to influence efficiently both the process of revision of the Atlantic Strategy Action Plan (AAP) and the possibility of evolving the current sea basin strategy into a macro regional one.

The AAC meetings in December 2018 and February 2019 had two complementary focuses for the group, corresponding to the different interests expressed by the regions:

  • Develop contribution to the draft Atlantic Action Plan addressing priorities areas, governance, financing; while in parallel,
  • Work with the regions interested in promoting an Atlantic Macro-region by facilitating contacts with member states and European Commission.

As a result, the meetings gathered a wide range of guests, representing the Atlantic member states, different units of the European Commission, and also regions from other sea-basins to share best practices developed by other strategies with a macro-regional dimension.
